When I was in high school at Interlochen I had an LP of the Vaughan Williams Tuba Concerto and Pastoral Symphony that my girlfriend brought me from far off Ann Arbor when she was down there performing with the orchesta. The symphony became a favorite of mine because I've always been into melodic, melancholy sounding stuff. Recently I found a better LP, Sir Adrian Boult with the New Philharmonia Orchestra, recorded in 1968, doing the Pastoral Symphony and "In the Fen Country", which is very much the same kind of thing.
